My First Steps As An IVSA Secretary

My first steps as an IVSA Secretary

I enjoy a good challenge, as well as the experience that comes with it, which is why I decided to apply for the position of secretary in the first place. I was happy when I was voted as part of the team, and I was truly looking forward to being of help.

When I heard that I would serve as a joint secretary for both Samantha Morici, the ERO, and Sofie Svensson, the DAD, though, I admit I was worried about whether I would do a good job, but both the ERO and the DAD are fully committed and driven, and they are continuously inspiring me to work harder at the tasks I am given, for which I am totally grateful. But what exactly have my tasks been up until now?

As part of the DAD’s team, I am in charge of the MAH Scholarship Fund. What I did until now was check the documents submitted until now, to ensure that all the documents and the expense reports are correct and follow the guidelines. If I found any irregularities or elements not in line with our rules and guidelines, I would give a full report to the DAD, detailing this, and she would then take the measures necessary.

As the ERO’s secretary, I am in charge of the Bayer Student of the Month selection process. I read through the nominations submitted and, based on the motivation provided, I make a preliminary list of candidates, and both Samantha and I choose the final candidate together. We’ve already chosen one student to date, and we will do the same every month from now on, from a new pool of candidates – so everyone will have a second chance, even if they were not selected the first time round! Don’t give up!

I do not know what will await for me during this term, with the 4th year clinics and all the other activities besides my tasks within the IVSA (and my Internet! Now it’s “Hi, Internet!”, next moment it’s “Bye, Internet!”…), but it will be fun for sure, and I am sure to learn a lot from these people I am lucky enough to work with. Hope you have a great time until next time! And don’t forget to nominate your peers for Bayer Student of the Month!
